Mayors Contest 2017 - If I Were Mayor, I Would...

Wonder is the beginning of wisdom. - Socrates

Did you ever wonder what YOU would do if you were the Mayor of Lebanon?

This month Mayor Aziz is kicking off the Oregon Mayors Conference If I Were Mayor, I Would… contest. He is inviting Lebanon’s students (grades 4th – 12th) to participate in the annual contest where students give their ideas and answer that big question: If I Were Mayor, I Would…

There are three categories within the contest.

  • Fourth and fifth grade students to answer the question by making a poster.
  • Sixth to eighth grade students to write an essay to answer the question.
  • High school students answer the question by creating an electronic presentation (e.g. video, PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.).

Mayor Aziz and the City Council will choose one winner, and one or more honorable mentions from each category. The local winners will be submitted to the Oregon Mayor's statewide competition and the winners announced during the Oregon Mayors Conference to be held in Lebanon at the end of July 2017.

Local winners will receive a $100 gift card and honorable mentions will receive a $25 gift card, all presented at the May 10, 2017 City Council meeting.

Statewide winners receive an Apple iPad Air 2.

Entry deadline is April 28, 2017 at 5:00 pm.
