Backflow Prevention

The Public Works Department maintains the City’s Backflow Testing Program.

Scheduled test notices are mailed to all properties with backflow assemblies on their annual due date. Property owners are responsible for having the assemblies tested by State Certified Testers who will submit the report to the City.Testers are required to provide a copy of each completed test report to the water user or premise owner and the water supplier (City of Lebanon Public Works) within 10 working days of the test.

Backflow devices are required on the customer-side of the meter whenever there is the potential for contaminated water to flow back into the City’s drinking water system. For more information, call (541) 258.4918 or email us at pw@ci.lebanon.or.us.

Residential Backflow Contract Program

Beginning July 2010, the City entered into a professional services maintenance contract offering residential water customers a set rate for testing and repairing residential-type backflow assemblies where the water service line is one inch or less. Typical annual testing costs range from $30 to $95. Annual testing prices are significantly reduced under this contract.

Water customers opting to elect this coverage would pay for the service once a year as part of their water bill. Property owners may decide not to use the program and, instead, use a certified tester of their own choice.

Property owner's participating in the residential contract program shall afford reasonable access to contractors as well as clear and/or remove any obstructions to a backflow device which may hinder the ability to properly test the device.

2024 Contract Rate - $25.00
2025 Contract Rate - $25.00
2026 Contract Rate - $25.00
2027 Contract Rate - $25.00
