Notice of Smoke Testing

On Monday, September 12th, the City of Lebanon will be conducting smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system in the area of 6th Street to 9th Street from Oak Street to F Street. Testing will include opening and entering manholes in the streets and public utility easements. This will allow the City to locate breaks and defects in the sewer system. This testing is expected to conclude by 5:00 p.m. on September 13th.

A non-toxic smoke will be used in these tests. The smoke is manufactured for this purpose and leaves no residuals or stains and has no effect on animal or plant life. Smoke may be visible if roof or gutter drains are connected to the sewer system or if vents or pipes to the building’s sewer system have become inadequate or defective. Should smoke enter your home, visibility and odor last only a few minutes.
